I started working with this style of illustration in late 2022 after attending a lecture by illustrator Supermundane. I was inspired by his early work, where he uses repeating lines to create three-dimensionality. I was excited to make my own, and I found the exercise extremely relaxing. Each illustration takes a long time, I create each line individually to maximise the changing of patterns, and sometimes forcefully interject to generate more layers.

I used this style in my Penguin project, which is the only time I worked around a predetermined shape.

Lost in the lines... (9 hours in 6 minutes)

My first attempt at a large illustration.

My first project using this type of illustration was a mock museum I had to plan and brand. I collect card decks, so I thought of a museum that would allow me to showcase my collection. Hence, the Museum of Cards (like a house of cards, get it?).

It was only logical to design a deck of cards as merchandise, so here is what the back would have looked like.

During my first experimentation period, I was asked to be the godmother at my niece's christening. For the occasion I came up with this illustration, wanting it to communicate the excitement of a new life and the many possibilities for the future.
